The Recreation Administration major prepares students to enter a professional career that will allow people, families, and communities to develop comfortable, healthy, and satisfying life. Recreation Administration is the academic program for college students who need to put together for a profession within the “Recreation and Leisure Industry.” Total, the Recreation Industry, including tourism, is a huge and numerous business with over $1 trillion of spending inside the U.S. each year.
Responsibilities: Areas of duty included St. Paul campus recreation facilities (37,000 square foot St. Paul Gymnasium, four softball fields, 3 soccer fields, 4 tennis courts), youth applications, golf leagues and classes, departmental analysis, and the division’s annual report.
Visitors to the Administration Office can register for a category or exercise, reserve a shelter for picnics, reserve athletic fields & tennis courts (when available for public use), or inquire about one of the many leisure amenities, applications, or providers supplied by the department.
For over 15 years, our graduates have pursued profitable careers within the public, personal, and business sectors of the sport and recreation industry as facility and program managers, sports advertising and marketing and gross sales representatives, athletic directors, league directors, particular event managers, health and recreation program leaders, gear and sporting items representatives, health promoters, educators, and entrepreneurs.
Established in 1968 as the Department of Recreation and Park Administration and renamed the Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration in 1989, the Department has been getting ready college students to enter the leisure services area for over forty years.
